The Sub 70 639 MB Plus was designed by the club makers at Sub 70 in response to a consistent question they got during their many years of building clubs and fitting golfers: am I good enough to play a blade? For anyone who has asked themselves that question and been afraid to invest in a club they may not be skilled enough to hit consistently, the MB Plus is your answer.
Like its brother the 639 MB, the MB Plus is a classic looking iron that is precision forged and CNC milled from a single billet of DT-4 super soft steel, which provides the same buttery feel and responsiveness that players look for in a blade. From there, the top line was nominally widened, the offset deepened, and the heel to toe length of the blade made slightly longer. These three changes were specifically tested until the club had the largest possible sweet spot while also allowing workability and providing feel and feedback to the player. The iron is finished in a handsome and utilitarian brushed satin to reduce glare, and the muscle back provides ideal launch parameters and maximum energy transfer for distance. Perhaps most importantly, the larger blade size, deeper offset, and slightly wider topline all have the combined effect of instilling confidence at address, allowing a player that once asked the question, to now have an answer.
